Dateless for 365 Days and Counting

Happy New Year loves! I am officially back with a brand new video! I took an entire year off from dating last year! I know, I know…not a conventional way of thinking but in this video I share 3 things that led me to take that break AND why you may want to consider it too (maybe not a whole year haha but a little break). Thanks in advance for watching!😘

Final Goals Check In

Hey loves!!!

It’s almost the end of the year and I’m excited at all that I’ve accomplished this year.  At the end of this month, I’m going to take a break from the website from now until the beginning of the new year while I work on creating some great new content for you all (including a giveaway in the new year). But until then, I wanted to give you a quick update on my 2017 goals. (You can read previous updates here – Q1,  Q2 and Q3 ).

Here’s an update on my progress on my blogging goals:

  1. As of today, I partially have achieved my goal to post on my site at least once a week.  Fell off a little this summer but trying to remain consistent now.
  2. I did officially create my podcast channel AND my YouTube channel. I plan to be an avid vlogger in 2018 so definitely make sure you are signed up for my YouTube channel by following me here.  You can also find me on Soundcloud by clicking  here.
  3. I kicked off my first giveaway in February and it was met with a great response rate. I also did another giveaway for reaching 1,000 followers on Instagram in Q2. I’m closing out the month with a holiday giveaway (so stay tuned) and then kicking off the new year with another giveaway (again stay tuned). Giveaways are only getting better and are offered on my social media platforms so be sure to sign up to follow me.
  4. I partnered with two other bloggers and hosted giveaways with them which helped me reach my network and collaboration goal for the year. I also did a joint Vlog with another blogger in April which was posted to YouTube! My first Vlog! You can view that here.
  5. I finished designing the first draft of one of my T-shirts and working on the second. The first should go on  sale at the beginning of the new year.
  6. I’m  still working on creating those blogging business cards which I need.
  7. I scheduled my first photo shoot in Q2 and have updated my website to reflect some of those new looks!

Wow. I’ve made some great progress so far in 2017! I am still working on my e-book and increasing my visibility and other goals but so far so good! My e-book is going to be next, I’m claiming it.

In terms of my personal goals, I have been grinding hard and being more consistent as well as working on my relationship with God.

My fitness has picked back up and I’ve been able to get at least 3 workouts in a week, with most weeks being 3 workouts. My boyfriend bought me a step tracking device and I’m excited to reach my 10,000 steps on most days (haha).

As I reflect over  what I’ve accomplished so far, I’m happy with what I’ve been able to achieve.  I still have more work to do but I think I’ve accomplished a lot of my goals for 2017!

Now what about you? How did you do with your 2017 goals.  Let me know through the comments section.  If you’ve fallen off, just add those to your 2018 goals and start over again!

~Many blessings,

3rd Quarter Goals Check-In

Hey loves!!!

We are continuing our accountability of one another by double-checking our goals for the year!  As you remember, I shared with you all my goals for the year which you can read here here and gave you an update in Q1, and Q2.

As stated before, each and every quarter I’m going to revisit these goals to ensure I’m staying on track of my New Year vision and to make sure you keep track on your vision as well!

Here’s an update on my progress on my blogging goals:

  1. As of today, I partially have achieved my goal to post on my site at least once a week.  Fell off a little this summer but trying to remain consistent now.
  2. I did officially create my podcast channel AND I officially launched it this month! Whoo hoo for getting this accomplished in Q3! I am still learning how to edit, add sound and effects, etc. but if I kept waiting to get everything perfect, I would never get this accomplished.  It’s a work in progress but I am glad that it officially launched.  I’ve added a podcast tab to my site for you to check out all the latest and greatest episodes.  You can also find it on Soundcloud by clicking  here.  It will contain the same content as my blog posts but is for those out there who’d rather listen than read. I also plan to introduce a new series especially for women that you don’t want to miss!
  3. I kicked off my first giveaway in February and it was met with a great response rate. I also did another giveaway for reaching 1,000 followers on Instagram in Q2. I’d like to do one more giveaway this year, hopefully my new t-shirt in Q3 so be sure to follow me on Instagram for your chance of winning.
  4. I partnered with two other bloggers and hosted giveaways with them which helped me reach my network and collab goal for the year. I also did a joint Vlog with another blogger in April which was posted to YouTube! My first Vlog! You can view that here.So hold your head high gorgeous.Show the world you're fine.Don't give in to the heartache, because people would kill to see you fall! -Author Unknown (1)
  5. I finished designing the first draft of my T-shirt and hoping to complete and finalize it for sale this quarter.  Since I’ll also be turning 30 this quarter, I’m thinking about contributing 30% of the proceeds of the sales during a period of time to a charity.  I’ll have to figure out all of those details soon.
  6. I have finalized my site logo (I think – I’m always changing my mind haha) and still working on creating those blogging business cards which I need.

In Q2, I noted that my relationship with God had taken a back seat to everything else in life but not anymore.  I have consistently been spending time with God for over 2 weeks straight now and looking to continue to increase my daily time with God.  I also have joined a few bible study support groups as well!  I’ve also taken a few trips already (Orlando and Costa Rica) and getting ready to head to New York with my boyfriend.  I still haven’t taken a new class (like jewelry making) but it’s on my list!

My fitness has picked back up and I’ve been able to get at least 3 workouts in a week, with most weeks being 3 workouts. My boyfriend bought me a step tracking device and I’m excited to reach my 10,000 steps on most days (haha)

As I reflect over this third quarter, I am pretty excited about what I’ve accomplished so far.  I still have more work to do but I think I’ve accomplished a lot of my goals so far and I still have a little over three months to go!  I’ve also added a few additional goals – the biggest being to increase my Instagram following to at least 1,500 by end of year and to write my eBook.  What series would you like to see me write about?

Now what about you? How are you doing with your New Year’s Goals?  Let me know through the comments section.  If you’ve fallen off, it’s not too late to start! I’ll be checking on you again in the third quarter so best of luck!

“He’s Just Not That Into You”

A friend sent me the picture below not too long ago and it instantly reminded me of a time in my life (well let’s be honest here – SEVERAL times in my life lol) where I was all sad because I found myself interested in a man who obviously was not interested in me.  I remember one specific time, texting my friend these little crying face emoji’s (I know pathetic right? lol) as I was reminiscing on the times that I had shared with a man of my past that I no longer shared.

But then reality hit? What times did we actually share?

img_20161107_201555The late night text messages asking me to come over whenever it was convenient for him? The occasional meal that we shared only for weeks to go by in between when I would hear from him again?  The pretending like he didn’t know me in public but trying to be profess his “love” for me in private? When I actually stopped to take time to think about it – we didn’t really have any memorable moments for me to be sad at! In fact, the only thing that that man had done in my life was actually draw me further away from God. I began to put him on the throne instead of God. But still, I knew he liked me.  I mean, sure, it took him a while to respond and he never initiated conversations or dates or whatever but he was just busy right?

Does any of that sound familiar? Oh no? So you gone act like it was just me out here making excuses for these men huh? Lol, that’s okay.  The first step towards getting better for your life is admitting when you’ve been wrong. You see, as women, we make excuses for a man’s actions instead of accepting it for what it is.  If a man is interested in you (and not just your body, what you can do for him, etc.), he will show it.  Point. Blank. Period.  And guess what? You won’t have to convince yourself that he’s into you. You’ll just know it!

Something that we do often is try to create pieces to fit into a puzzle that were never destined to be there.  Still confused? Simply put, there is no sense in trying to force something that God never intended for you to have in the first place.  And just in case, you glossed over that part, let me repeat it to you–

THERE IS NO SENSE IN TRYING TO FORCE SOMETHING THAT GOD NEVER INTENDED FOR YOU TO HAVE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!

Write that down. Say it out loud. Make it your background on your phone. Go all Being Mary Jane with it, if you must!  Whatever you have to do to remind yourself that you deserve more then do it! You deserve someone who will initiate phone calls (and not just text messages), who will actually plan a date (instead of telling you to come over and Netflix and Chill), who will let you know where you stand in his life (instead of showing you he wants all the benefits of a boyfriend/husband without actually committing to you), who will tell you when he’s thinking about you (instead of ignoring you), and who is consistently around and trying to be around you.  And anyone who isn’t doing those things simply just isn’t into you beautiful.

You deserve a man who will make you a priority so stop settling for less! God’s very best man is out there and he’s ready to show you the world. Shining, shimmering, splendid. (Sorry, I really love the movie Aladdin and that song is my jam lol).

Until next time loves….know your worth!

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

I was laying in bed one morning and as is common with my mind, this topic popped up in my head.  As a society, we struggle with learning to accept ourselves.  We are too busy trying to make ourselves look like the Kim K’s, Beyonce’s, J-Lo’s and other celebrities in the world. We want:

  • to be thin like the Victoria Secret models,
  • to have flawless pictures like the retouched images of people in magazines
  • have hips and a derrière like Nicki Minaj,
  • have hair down our backs like we see all the ladies have in media, or perhaps have big curly hair like all of our favorites naturlistas on YouTube
  • and have thick full lips like me (I say me because I was born with them haha but  I know many people didn’t start desiring thick lips until Angelina Jolie or Kylie Jenner made it a “trend” even though there are many of us – including myself – who were born with them but that’s a topic for a different day lol).

We get so caught up in trying to be like everyone else that we don’t realize that being ourselves is in fact good enough.  Let me say this to you, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with being authentically you.  So why are you trying so hard to be a prototype – you know a model of something or someone else?  Now let me clarify. It’s okay to aspire these things. It’s okay to wear makeup, rock you some weave, work out to lose weight or squats to lift your derrière.  The issue is when you take off all of those things and you don’t love the person that you see in the mirror.

It is imperative that we learn to love ourselves and celebrate those things that make us unique.  I was attending a leadership series awhile ago at my job where the speaker was Fred Perpall.  At 38 years old, Mr. Perpall is the CEO of The Beck Group, one of the nation’s largest design build companies.  During this speech, Mr. Perpall said, “don’t let your uniqueness be something that you see as a negative”.  Instead, we are to leverage our uniqueness and use it to propel us into greater heights.

So whether you are black or white, have full or thin lips, have long or short hair, have a gap between your teeth or not, have freckles or acne or a mole, have thick or fine hair, have stretch marks or cellulite, have muscles or not….just be authentically you!  God didn’t create any two people on this Earth to be the same.  Nope, not even identical twins! Because while twins, triplets and God-bless-you-if-you’ve-had-more-than-that-at one-time, share the same genetic makeup, they are still not 100% the same!  God didn’t feel there needed to be a bunch of prototypes walking around here. Instead, he thought that you – just as you are – are more than enough.

My hope is that you remember that very thing. It is okay to be you.  In fact, celebrate who you are because there is no one else who can see or paint the world as you do.  God created you to be a masterpiece – skillfully and wonderfully made – and we need more masterpieces in this world instead of carbon copies! It is up to you to accept it, love yourself flaws and all and learn to just be your own kind of beautiful!

XO,

~Videllia
