“You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God and he has chosen you from all of the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.” – Deuteronomy 14:2 NLT
The first step to knowing your worth is to know that God has you set apart from all of the rest! I mean, let’s think about it. When you’re packing to take a trip, do you pack all of your jewelry, credit cards and money in the same section of the suitcase as your shoes and clothes? No. In fact, most of us pack those items in a separate carry-on bag or toiletry bag. The airline industries actually encourage us to do so. Why? Because those things are so valuable to us that we have to SET THEM APART from everything else so that they aren’t at risk of being lost, damaged or destroyed.
The same is true of diamonds! You know they say a diamond is a girl’s best friend. You can walk into Sam Moon or Charming Charlie and see all of the jewelry and fake diamonds on display for you, your mama and your auntie and them to pick up, touch and possibly tarnish. But walk into Zales. Into Jared’s. Those diamonds are all locked behind some case and you have to have special access from the ONE IN CHARGE in order to get close to it.
The same is true of you! God has you set apart from all of the rest because he values you so much that he doesn’t just want anything or any person to come into your life and risk harming, damaging, destroying OR tarnishing you. Therefore, any one who comes into your life (friend, foe or bae) will have to seek God, the ONE IN CHARGE, first in order to gain access to you. If God values you this highly then why won’t you value yourself just as highly? It is time for you to walk in the worth that you are set apart my dear.
In what ways has God protected you from some things that in hindsight you see would have harmed you? For me, it was when he allowed me to call off my engagement so that I wouldn’t marry someone who was not the right fit for me but for you, perhaps it was something else. Take some time to write this down in your journal.
